Hammer toe is a prevalent foot deformity characterized by an abnormal bend at the middle joint of one of the smaller toes, resulting in a distinct hammer-like appearance. This condition occurs when prolonged pressure or positioning forces the toes into a cramped state, causing the muscles and tendons to tighten and adjust to an unusual position. While often viewed as a structural issue, hammer toe can lead to significant pain, discomfort, and impaired mobility if left unmanaged.
